6 New Year Resolutions for a sustainable 2021

Happy Solar New Year everyone! As we look forward to 2021, our commitment is to help you care for your home and yourself in a way that cares for the health of our planet. In 2020 we were reminded, and reminded, and reminded again that our own health is deeply connected to the places we reside. That's why it's our mission to make it easier to clean your home and care for yourself in a truly sustainable way because we know how important it is for you to feel good where you live.

Here are our own resolutions to a more sustainable lifestyle in 2021:

#1 Ditch Plastic

Most plastic waste does not make it to the recycling center, or even the landfill. This plastic — carried by rivers, wind, and animals can find its way to the sea and even into our food chain. Let's choose products that use natural, long lasting and sustainable packaging.

#2 Reduce Waste

Recycling is probably the easiest way to feel like we are being environmentally-conscious about waste management, but did you know that reducing waste is equally as important? Let's start the journey towards a low-waste lifestyle.

#3 Avoid toxic and harmful chemicals

Personal care products contain a wide variety of chemicals and many that lack research to prove safety for our health. Since they are applied directly to our skin, they are easily absorbed into our bodies. Let's make a new habit of reading labels and choosing natural options.

#4 Shop local & support sustainable brands

When we shop local, we make a personal investment in our neighborhood and community. Money is kept in the community because locally-owned businesses often purchase from other local businesses, service providers, and farms.

#5 Eat seasonal & Locally grown

Seasonal food is not only tastier and more nutritious. Also, has the biggest benefit for the planet, as it takes less resources to transport and store your food. Did you know transporting food by air generates 177 times more greenhouse gases than shipping it?

#6 Skip the meat

Eating meat has a hefty impact on the environment from fueling climate change to polluting landscapes and waterways. When possible choose plant-based alternatives.

Living a sustainable lifestyle doesn’t have to be overwhelming. We can incorporate small but meaningful changes into our day-to-day routines that contribute hugely to a more eco-friendly existence.
